dear future husband

Dear future husband,

I don’t know if you’re out there, but if you are, maybe God will guide you to this letter. Because I won’t be searching for you. Not anymore. I fell into the dating app trap and got burned. Rest assured, nothing happened with those men. You’ll be my first everything.

I assume you know why that’s important. I assume God has opened your eyes to what truly makes a marriage, because He opened mine. So I’ll either be your first or your second if you're widowed. While I’ve been waiting for you, God has been molding me and shaping me to be like Christ. To be your crown. To be a messenger of truth. I wonder what God has been molding you to be.

Are you out there working six days a week and resting on the seventh day like me? Did you recently step into the gifts God gave you, too? Or have you been spending years doing what God prepared for you in advance? I hope you are working. I hope you are doing everything that you can to plant eternal seeds into the world. I hope that you care about eternity as much as I do. Even when those down here in the temporary don’t.

I hope you don’t let loneliness consume you like it does me sometimes. I hope you can remember that God is there for you, even when no one else is. I hope you can keep your mind on things above, especially when the things below try to pull you down.

I pray that one day we will meet. I pray that together we can point people to Christ, to truth. I pray that we can make little image bearers who love the Lord as much as we do. I pray that we can make an eternal impact together. Until then, I pray that we make that impact on our respective paths, and maybe through that impact, God will allow our paths to cross.

With love,

Your future wife.
