Don’t obsess, occupy
A few years into my walk with Christ, the end-times obsession bug bit me. At the time, I was drowning in the ways the world and tradition said to work and live, so the thought of escaping it all consumed me. Everything was hard, everything was stressful, and I couldn’t handle it. I didn’t know I could give everything to God and rest. I didn’t know I was following false doctrine. I didn’t know I was living wrong at all, but my ignorance was not an excuse for itching ears. I should’ve known better than to listen to people claiming to know a date that not even the angels know (Matthew 24:36).
And if you are like how I was, obsessing over the end instead of living fully for God, you need to stop. You need to repent. You need to live for God now. You need to occupy until He comes (Luke 19:13). God has given you gifts, and He is expecting you to use them for His glory (1 Peter 4:10). He is expecting you to live your life in full obedience and surrender to Him. He does not want you to sit there and obsess over the future, especially a future date we have no business trying to figure out.
Yes, the world is getting darker day by day, and it seems like the second coming could be getting closer too. But you know what else could be getting closer? Your death (James 4:14). But are you sitting there obsessing over that? If you are, stop. Death is not something we should fear, at least not for the Christian who is being about God’s business every day. If you aren’t being about His business, you should be very afraid because your inheritance into the kingdom of God is not promised if He deems you to be an unprofitable servant (Matthew 25:30).
The good news is that since you’re reading this, you can repent. You can go to God right now and ask Him to help you get on track, and if you are sincere, He will answer. He will help. He did that for me. And now I am sitting here, stewarding a ministry that can help you and others. A ministry that can bring glory to His name. And that’s what I want for you. I want you to fully live for God now. I want to see you make an eternal impact. I want to see the amazing things you can do. I want to see you in heaven. And that is what God wants too. Or else I wouldn’t be here saying these things right now.
So, if you have the Holy Spirit, if you are claiming God’s name, live for Him. Be that living sacrifice, before it’s too late.
