Christian in name only

“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:33 KJV)

Truly listen to Jesus. This denial isn’t just in words; it’s in actions as well. If you write, your writing should reflect Him, and your readers should know you are of God. If you have a business, the same is true. Your customers should know that you are of God, that you follow Christ. Everyone in your life should be able to say that you are a Christian (Matthew 5:16). And not just a Christian who touts the sanitized, sugarcoated feel-good tradition, but one who truly follows what He says, even when it puts you at odds with the world and others who claim to follow God.

If no one in your life can claim that, you are in danger of being denied before the Father. You need to get your life together because all of us are living on borrowed time (James 4:14). You may not have tomorrow to change, and you certainly won’t have an eternity to finally put Him first. It doesn’t work that way; there are no do-overs (Matthew 7:21). You already would’ve shown God in life that you didn’t care to follow Him as He commanded, so why on earth would you suddenly change in eternity? You already proved that your heart is far from Him (Matthew 15:8). You’ve already shown you are His enemy (James 4:4).

The good news is that if you’re reading this now, you have a chance to repent. You can stop walking around with a faith that is in name only. Instead of having a worn name tag that is peeling away, you can have a faith that is etched into every fiber of your being. I hope that is what you want. I pray that you allow God to work in you so you can be renewed because the world isn’t worth eternal separation from Him. It just isn’t.

So please, heed my warning before it’s too late.
